Warm Greetings from the Department of Civil Engineering, Marian Engineering College
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2006, initially offering the UG Programme. The PG programme in Geotechnical Engineering commenced in the year 2013. We are proud and happy that the good infrastructure and facilities coupled with a team of committed, caring and competent staff have made the department one of the preferred choices for aspiring graduates and post graduates in engineering. Procurement of student projects funded by Govt. agencies like KSCSTE, CERD and Nirmithi Kendra by our team have inculcated a research culture in thrust areas.
It is indeed a pleasure to recall the laurels that our students have brought to the department in the past by securing University ranks in both UG and PG programmes and also through excellence in sports. IGS-AISAT Award for the best M. Tech thesis in Geotechnical Engineering in Kerala and the first prize in National level Rural Innovators’ Start up Conclave organised by National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj have been won by our students in 2019. Our students have secured jobs in reputed companies like Infosys, IBM and Allianz through campus placement. Students have also been placed, through off campus selection process, in firms such as Tech Mahindra, HDFC, Kitco Ltd. and Costford, to mention a few.
The department has a vibrant Civil Engineering Association as well as Student Chapters of the Institution of Engineers, ASCE,IE(I) and the Indian Geotechnical Society which regularly organise invited talks by industrial/academic experts, industrial visits, and technical quizzes.
Civil engineering is a discipline highly relevant to society and mankind for its role in infrastructure development, disaster management, mitigation of pollution and protection of environment. We, the Civil engineering family of Marian Engineering college promise to continue our sincere efforts to provide quality education and guidance to our students to make them capable of contributing to Civil Engineering technology for sustainable development of the society and mankind.
