Student Induction Program 2021
Student Induction Program 2021, for first year students was conducted during 22-25November and 4/12/2021.On 22nd FN, inauguration of SIP2021 was conducted at Bishop Derere open auditorium. Arch Bishop Rev. Dr. Soosai Pakiam, Patron of the college, addressed the gathering. Eminent psychiatrist, Dr. Arun B Nair gave an insight to the present day problems faced by students and practical tips to overcome them. Manager, Rev. Fr. Wilfred E, Principal, Dr. Ruby Abraham and Director Dr. Samson A also addressed the gathering.
During the AN session” Know your branch” program was conducted at each respective departments.
On 23rd FN, Mr. Ullas Innocent Raj,Associate Prof. Department of Mechanical Engg. gave an introductory session on Universal Human Values and the purpose of SIP 2021 at Benziger Hall .For the AN session students were divided into three batches, A,B and C.A batch was given exposure to physical/sports activity under the leadership of Mr.Saji P,Asst.Prof.,Physical Education Department. B batch was given exposure to literary activity under the leadership of Mr. Rajaneesh R Chandran, Asst. Prof, Department of Mechanical Engg. C batch was given awareness against environmental pollution and training in paper bag making by Mr. Ullas Innocent Raj.
On 24th FN, session was handled by Centre for Learning and Success (CLAS), a professional training group conducting training programmes for students in motivation and goal setting. In AN session students were given exposure to physical/Sports activity, literary activity and environmental awareness.
On 25th, FN online session on socio-psychological problems faced by students was addressed by psychiatrist, Dr. Arun B Nair. After the online session, a programme on drug abuse, by Arun B, Nursing Assistant, Medical College, Kollam, was given. AN session was conducted by CGPU Unit of the College under the coordination of placement officer, Mr. Abel George. Importance of becoming employable, to get placed in reputed companies during the B.Tech course, was given by resource persons from Infosys and UST global.
On December 4th,FN,Dr.Manoj M,First Year Coordinator,addressed the students at Benziger Hall.He outlined the rules and discipline to be followed by students.Dr. Anishia Jayaraj gave a talk on gender justice from 9:45 – 11:00.After tea break exposure of NSS activities was given by Volunteer Secretary Mr.Gokul,S5 CSE.A cloth bag was presented to each student to reduce plastic pollution. Mr.Ullas Innocent Raj gave a small introduction of MIyawaki Forest and its development at Marian Engineering College.
After lunch break competitions were conducted in Paperbag making,Painting and News display against drug abuse.Competitions were completed by 2:15pm.Valedictory function began at 2:30pm.Manager,Rev.Fr.Wilfred addressed the gathering and gave blessing to all students for happy and prosperous time at College.Dr.Manoj,First year coordinator advised the students and wished the students an enjoyable life at college,Mr.Rajaneesh R Chandran,Convener of SIP 2021 gave advice and encouragement to students.Winners of the competition were given cash prize for first,second and third positions.After prize distribution,each student were given a sapling of passion fruit ,blessed by Manager,First year coordinator and through respective staff advisors.The function was concluded by vote of thanks and National Anthem.
