This is an initiative taken by the National Cyber Safety and Security Standards (NCSSS) in association with various state and Central Governments to curb and reduce the notoriously spreading Cyber threats from various directions and dimensions. It is the responsibility of any Government to safeguard the nation from such current threats in the Cyber space towards National security.

It has also been noted that Cyber threats against Educational Institution data are on the rise. In fact the education Service sector is rated third in the top targets of data breach incidents. We have the frightening statistics of data breaches of around 13 million known personal records during a span of 2005 – 2016 in around 540 educational institutions. Another problem for colleges and Universities is that they often lack specific plans for dealing with data breaches once they occur. Hence it is mandatory that the Faculty, students and everyone in the Higher Education Industry need to know about, the real-life problems of Cyber threats & attacks that can devastate an institutions infrastructure and individual’s livelihood.

It is in this  has context that the National Cyber Safety and Security Standards (NCSSS) has to establish National Cyber Defence Resource Centres (NCDRC) in outstanding Technical Institutions across the nation to protect and safeguard the institutions digital critical infrastructure. The NCSSS has already approved Marian Engineering College as the National Cyber Resource. The inauguration of the centre was conducted on 3/06/2022.
