- Dr.Ajit Prabhu V
An outstanding researcher, renowned teacher, prominent educationalist, expert administrator, team leader amassing more than 38 years of rich experience in research, academics and administration. Dr. AJIT PRABHU V. was the Chief Academic and Administrative Leader as Director & Principal of St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology (Autonomous), Chengannur, Kerala, for the last 2 years and was responsible for driving academic excellence, ensuring statutory compliance (AICTE/University), and fostering industry partnerships. As Chief Scientist (Sci ‘G’) and Head (TDPMD), hehad been a vital part of Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) under Government of Kerala for more than 20 years. He served a pivotal role in establishing special schemes and programmes at KSCSTE aimed at promotingInnovation and Research in Engineering Education. Beyond his endeavours in popularising science, his exceptional contributions are particularly conspicuous in the realm of science education and research in the Kerala State. As State Nodal Officer of Intellectual Property Rights Information Centre (IPRIC-Kerala), Dr. Prabhu carried out exceptional and substantial contributions in promoting IPR in the Kerala State in a big way through more than 600 IPR Seminars/Awareness programmes covering stakeholders from all walks of life and which remains as one of his hall mark achievements and created impact in the academics. His R&D experience for more than 10 years in Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Government of India, developed him as a true scientist and his further experience at senior positions inGovernment of Kerala, developedhim as a capable and highly efficient researcher, academician,administrator and proficient manager. He could synergistically integrate Research, Innovation, Technology Development, IP Management and Entrepreneurship Development in an effective way for the benefit of the socio-economic development of Kerala. Dr. Prabhu simultaneously possesses 25 years of Teaching/Academic Experience as Visiting/Guest Faculty for various Universities and Institutions for Engineering and Management programmes, produced 16 PhDs, authored 4 books, co-authored 4 books, 2 Patents, published several research papers, articles, and also served as Member of Board of Studies, Member of BOGs, Expert Member in various Committees.With basic B.Tech. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and with higher academic qualifications like M.Tech., MBA and PhD, he possesses a distinctive amalgamation of academic, research, managerial and administrative expertise. Recipient of Children’s Literature Award (for Science– 2018) instituted by the Kerala State Institute for Children’s Literature, Govt. of Kerala and 'Life Time Achievement Award (2023)' of Tumkur University and also Two Good Service Entries (in 2007 & 2010) from KSCSTE/Govt. of Kerala.
